The new terminal features two car dealerships on the same lot, a 1,585-square-metre facility for Audi and 2,930-square metre two-storey Volkswagen facility. Bird’s scope of work consisted of a full build package including site services, foundations, masonry, custom curtain walls with glazing and infloor heating systems.

The Audi dealership features many custom signature finishes including speciality lighting, metal ceiling, large porcelain tile and honeycomb exterior siding. Pre-installation meetings and physical mock-ups of the 60-degree curved wall and large floor tiles were completed to meet the client’s expectations. As a structural component of the building, the curved wall is a floor to ceiling feature with a radius and sweeping angle. Precision work was completed to ensure the accuracy of the wall’s layout and finished with a speciality coating to resemble asphalt.

For all Bird projects, the management of subcontractors requires that Bird’s standards for safe production, quality of work, financial capacity and depth of resources are all achieved. As the project commenced, Bird met with all subcontractors weekly to outline short-term goals and address all queries promptly to ensure the project was completed to the highest quality.
